Photographic Composition: 3 Essential Exercises and a Bonus Tip

Luis Boza December 23, 2024

Enhance your photographic composition skills with these three essential exercises:

  1. Seek Geometric Shapes and Lines: Incorporate triangles, squares, rectangles, and circles into your shots to create compelling compositions.

  2. Experiment with Angles: Alter your perspective by shooting from ground level, a higher vantage point, or varying distances to discover unique viewpoints.

  3. Utilize Fixed Focal Length Lenses: Prime lenses encourage deliberate framing, helping you focus on the most significant elements of your subject.

Additionally, immerse yourself in visual media by watching films and studying photographs. Always ask yourself:

  • What am I photographing?

  • Why am I photographing this?

  • For what purpose am I photographing this?

By consistently practicing these exercises and reflecting on these questions, you'll sharpen your eye and elevate your photographic compositions.

At last but not least Have FUN
